After five increasingly successful years, our 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic, but this gave us plenty of time to come up with some fanatic new ideas and ways to make our event better than ever! We relocated from Middleton Woods in Ilkley to Golden Acre Park in Leeds, which provides us with not only a much larger venue, but also greater accessibility and facilities.

Fundraising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, 100% of our profits are donated to our chosen charities and good causes.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
This year we are fundraising for\u00a0Martin House<\/a>, The Elderwood Project<\/a> and the Addingham Scout Group.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Martin House<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim is to provide family led care for children with life-shortening conditions. Martin House Children’s Hospice is a place where children, young people and their families can come to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hospice was formally opened by the Duchess of Kent in 1987. The founding Head Nurse, Lenore Hill, was appointed one year prior to the opening. This meant that right from the start she played an integral role in shaping the development of the hospice to fully meet the needs of the children and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission<\/strong>\u00a0is to help children and young people with a life-limiting condition, along with their families, to live well and fully, offering the best possible end-of-life care and support to the family in bereavement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vision<\/strong>\u00a0is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Addingham Scouts<\/strong>

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. The Scouts are guided by the values of Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief and Co-operation. Primary activities include camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking and sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addingham Scouts are fundraising for a trip to Kandersteg, the International Scout Centre in Switzerland in 2028. Money raised will help with the cost towards the trip to make it more affordable for each family, and to fund additional resources needed to support young people with learning difficulties. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Elderwood Project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rescuing timber. Reclaiming skills. Building community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giving unwanted wood a second life through reuse, traditional craft and community workshops in West Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We collect unwanted timber that would otherwise be thrown away or sent to landfill. From pallets and scaffold boards to fallen trees and offcuts, we give usable wood a second chance instead of letting it go to waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We bring people together to learn practical skills, traditional crafts and creative woodworking using reclaimed materials. Our workshops are about making things by hand, learning something new and building community along the way.<\/p>\n<\/div>
