About Us

After five increasingly successful years, our 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic, but this gave us plenty of time to come up with some fanatic new ideas and ways to make our event better than ever! We relocated from Middleton Woods in Ilkley to Golden Acre Park in Leeds, which provides us with not only a much larger venue, but also greater accessibility and facilities.

Fundraising

Every year, 100% of our profits are donated to our chosen charities and good causes. This year we are fundraising for Sands – Saving Babies Lives and the Addingham Scout Group.

Sands
Sands exists to reduce the number of babies dying and to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support. Currently in the UK, around 4,500 babies a year die before, during or shortly after birth, and at least 15% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. That’s more than 13 families suffering this heartbreak every day! These numbers are skocking and show the scale of the problem. Currently, far too many babies die without scientists, doctors, midwive or thier own parents unsterstanding why. That’s why Sands believe research is vital in improving the understanding of how to save babies’ lives and using that evidence to drive changes in maternity policies and practices.

For more than 40 years, Sands has been there for anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss to offer understanding and comfort through its Freephone helpline, mobile app, online community & resources, and locally through UK-wide network of around 100 regional support groups. Sands works in partnership with health care professionals, trusts and health boards and offers a range of training programmes and bereavement care resources to ensure that every bereaved parent and family received the best possible care wherever they are in the UK.

Your money will help Sands support and promote research to better understand the causes of baby deaths, improve maternity safety and save babies’ lives. The charity also raises awareness of baby loss and works with governments, key influencers and other stakeholders to make reducing the number of babies dying a priority nationally and locally.

Addingham Scouts
Scouting exists to actively engage and support youmg people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. The Scouts are guided by the values of Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief and Co-operation. Primary activities include camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking and sports.

Addingham Scouts are currently fundraising for a trip to Kangersteg, the International Scout Centre in Switzerland. Money raised will help with the cost towards the trip to make it more affordable for each family, and to fund additional resources needed to support young people with learning diffuculties. The Scouts are also fundraising to refurbish thier scout hut with better disabled access so it is accessible to all. We have relocated from Middleton Woods in Ilkley to Golden Acre Park in Leeds, which provides us with not only a much larger venue, but also greater accessibility and parking facilities.
